The ECM (electronically Commutated Motor) combines the inherent efficiency of a DC motor design with an electronic drive. ECM's have the potential to dramatically reduce the energy consumption over that of lower efficient PSC motors. To use this efficiency modulation or speed control of the motor is a must.
ECM's, due to the DC technology, have the ability to very efficiently reduce the speed of the motor. We do that through a control board that produces a pulsed width modulated signal to control the speed of the fan. The input can be either a binary 24VAC or an analog 0 - 10 VDC signal and the ouput can be selected from either a fully modulated signal or three programmable fixed speed settings.
